Boring.

The new dress I got at Urban Outfitters. I love it. Please ignore the poor picture quality, and the fact that the tags are sticking out, and everything else about this picture other then the dress. Thanks. :)
Prince Albert Hall Across from the Prince Albert statue.

Team America!

Up close on the "America" sign below the statue.

The completely over-the-top gates around the Prince Albert statue.
I believe this is Asia.

Also Asia.
The American statue, once again.
Another view. I'm not sure what each part of the statue represents about America, but if I find out I will let you all know. I couldn't find it posted anywhere on the statue.

I'm not sure to what this is referring, but I liked it.

Hi darling readers-

I am afraid this evening's post might be slightly disappointing and less enchanting than my previous ones. I sort of took today off. And by "off" I mean I didn't go see any big monuments or cites. I really just went to class, slept, and read all day. It feels as if I have been going nonstop since I arrived, and It was nice to have some down time. The rest of the week should prove to be more interesting though. I am headed to Oxford (school where Harry Potter was filmed) on Saturday and then a football game (Fulham vs. Everton) on Sunday. It is going to be fun! I also have plans to go on a Harry Potter walk in London, as well as a Beatles and a Shakespeare/Dickens walk. They have fantastic, cheap tour guide-led walks all over London. I have plans to visit the zoo and aquariums here as well as the London and Prince Albert museums. Therefore, my posts will pick up in excitement within the next few days. My day today went about like this: I went to class where I had to do an "interior monologue" of a character in a short story by Guy de Maupassant that we read. An interior monologue is the writing down of a characters internal thoughts and feelings. For this exercise we had to be in the mind of an overweight prostitute pressured into sleeping with a Germain guard in order for the party she was with to be able to pass through a German town. There is a lot more background than that, but you get the gist. I don't know how many of you have ever tried to be in the head of a person like this, but let me tell you from experience, it isn't as easy as it sounds. Haha. Anyway, we weren't aloud to use any punctuation in the exercise. The point being to demonstrate just how rapid and random the human thought process really is. It was interesting. After class I came home and slept an inordinate amount of hours. My sleeping pattern is still backwards, much to my own accidental doing I believe. And after my nap I went and got a Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha (hold the milk and whipped cream) and took a walk through Kensington Gardens with the sultry sounds of Kings of Leon (band) feeding into my ears. The Gardens/Hyde park is my new favorite place in the world. I think I will make my walks there a daily habit. I took closer pictures of the Prince Albert statue while I was there. It has miniature statues all around it representing every continent in the world. I then strolled back home and here I sit, catching up on e-mails, Facebook posts, the blog, etc. I hope all is well with everyone. If you all get time e-mail me (m_and_m26@hotmail.com) or Facebook/Myspace me to catch me up on YOUR lives. I would love to hear what everyone has going on back in the States. It would also provide me with a little bit of home and normalcy. I love and miss each of you dearly. You all are never very far from my thoughts. Cheers until tomorrow.

Always,
Mattie

  1. Heh heh...this reminds me so much of a video-blog series I used to watch called "Nate On Jesus Lane," by this guy (Nate Dern) who went to England for college for a year and visited all of Europe's most famous cities. Very interesting stuff.

Sounds like London's your cup of tea (pun not intended). Thanks for keeping us lowly peons posted about your activities across the pond, and thanks even more for the pictures--they bring the entire blog to life.

Anyways, I'll keep on the lookout for more. Keep having fun, Mr. Smith ;-)!
